Global Gathering: Embodied Change-making & The Power of Play

Join the Five & Two Network Global Gathering as we explore embodied change-making and the transformative power of play in community-centered development. Together, we’ll reflect on how creativity and improvisation fuel growth and collective action.

“Improvisation, composition, writing, painting, theater, invention, all creative acts are forms of play, the starting place of creativity in the human growth cycle, and one of the great primal life functions. Without play, learning and evolution are not possible.”

- Stephen Nachmanovitch, Free Play, Improvisation in Art and Life

Come ready to move, imagine, and connect.

Global Gathering: Community Centered Peacemaking

At the last Global Gathering we focussed on Peace Camps as a tool for activating communities and leading communities to engage the CCD process. It was so powerful and we got a lot of feedback that people wanted to share more on this topic. This time, we hope to hear from CCD practitioners who integrate peacebuilding strategies as it is necessary in the CCD process!

When engaging in Community Centred Development work, peacebuilding principles and tools are essential for creating sustainable, inclusive change. CCD focuses on uncovering and mobilizing a community's existing strengths—but in many communities, past or ongoing conflict, division, or mistrust can hinder this process. Peacebuilding helps address these dynamics by fostering dialogue, healing, and mutual understanding. It creates the safe, collaborative spaces needed for people to come together across differences, build trust, and co-create solutions. Integrating peacebuilding into CCD ensures that development efforts are not only asset-driven, but also relationship-centered, equitable, and resilient in the face of tension or change.
