“This peace camp helped me learn how to handle conflict…”
In collaboration with the Karunashree Foundation, we had the privilege of being a part of the first peace camp in Shamshabad, India. This conciliation space brought together international and national participants for a transformative experience focused on peacemaking and community development. Through a series of sessions and activities, participants explored topics such as conflict transformation, servant leadership, and cultural understanding. Creative methods, interactive lectures, and dialogue groups fostered deep engagement and learning. It was a powerful time and catalytic in nature— inspiring young people to ‘be the peacemakers’ as Jesus exhorts us in the sermon on the mount, in their homes and communities.
For me, the most significant part of running the peace camp was witnessing the transformation and empowerment of the participants. The most powerful aspect was seeing individuals from diverse backgrounds come together, engage in meaningful dialogue, and emerge with a renewed sense of hope and purpose. Witnessing the moments of realization, the breaking down of barriers, and the building of bridges towards understanding and collaboration, was truly inspiring. Knowing that the camp provided a platform for personal growth, cultural exchange, and the exploration of peacebuilding principles was deeply fulfilling.
